Our Commitment To Privacy

Your privacy is very important to us. To better protect your privacy we provide this notice explaining our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used. To make this notice easy to find, we make it available on every page of our main web site. We are making this page as detailed as possible and make our best attempt to provide you with complete transparency into what we collect from you and what we do with that information.

Here is a quick summary of the key points to our privacy policy:

We do not sell or share your information with anyone at a detailed level. We do use web visitor analytical services that collects some web visitor information in aggregate but they do not store or provide us with specific user details. The web analytic services may store one or more cookies on your machine to assist in tracking the paths you take when you enter our web site. We use that analytical software to determine if the paths our users take to the site are effective and to improve the quality and readability of our web site. We also use that data to determine how people are finding us using common search engines and various advertising campaigns.

The Information We Collect Directly

This notice applies to all information collected or submitted on the SharedStatus website. On some pages you can sign up for an account and on others identify billing information. The types of personal information collected at these pages are:

Name
Preferred user name
Password for our system
Password reminder
Email address
Time zone

In the event you decide to upgrade to our Pro version we will collect basic billing information which includes the following:

Credit card information
Billing address

SharedStatus LLC does not store credit card information on our servers. We have contracted with a top tier credit card processing company that handles the credit card transactions for thousands of other companies. Your credit card and billing information is submitted to them and they return a unique identifier to reference that credit card when your monthly billing event occurs.

In the event you downgrade from our Pro version back to the free version we send a notification to the credit card processing company to permanently delete your chargeable credit card information. If you later decide to upgrade to our paid version again we will need you to reenter that credit card information.

SharedStatus is a task management application; as a result you can enter details on your personal and/or professional tasks, including the name of the task, details on the task, due date, project details, comments, etc. This information is the core application itself and the types of data you can enter may change over time as new features are added.

On some pages, you can submit information about other people. For example, you can send invitations to people to join your account. The Email addresses you enter are not stored by us – they are processed when the invitation is sent out and then removed from our system with the exception of our application logs.

Application logs are automatically collected and may contain your IP address and user name as you perform actions through our application. These logs are used to troubleshoot and fix any issues that occur. Over time application logs are removed from the system when they are no longer needed for troubleshooting.

Optional Data Collected

The core web site contains a Forums feature that is independent of our primary application. If you decide to use that feature there is a separate account that you will create that collects your preferred user name, email address and optionally website, location, occupation and interests. If you decide to participate by commenting on our blogs you will be asked to enter your name, email address and optionally your web site as well as the comments.

The optional data defined in the previous paragraph is used purely for Forums and Blog Comment purposes. The only time that information is referenced is when SharedStatus LLC needs to communicate with users of those features for system updates or individual communication on specific topics.

The Way We Use Information

We use the information you provide to set up a SharedStatus account for you. We do not share this information with outside parties.

On occasion we will provide our users with free temporary upgrades to enhanced features so that they can be evaluated. The notification of these free upgrades will be sent to the users in your account by email. All users have the option of opting out of those notifications.

System notifications may be sent to users and account owners that contain information about our service, including scheduled maintenance windows and information critical to the technical aspect of SharedStatus. All users have the option of opting out of System notifications.

Account notifications, which include credit card charge issues (credit card receipts, expired credit card, failed charge, etc.) as well as exceeding account space issues (file storage, user count, etc) will be sent to the owner of the account. These are not optional notifications if you are the owner of the account as they are our only means of communicating with you in the event there is an issue. To cease receiving account notifications you will need to close your account and we will remove your information from our system. These account notifications are primarily for paid account users though free account users may see an occasional email as well.

You have the option within SharedStatus to be notified of specific events through Email or SMS messages. If you activate that feature we will send messages to your address(es) when they events you are watching for are triggered.

Finally, we never use or share the personally identifiable information provided to us online in ways unrelated to the ones described above without also providing you an opportunity to opt-out or otherwise prohibit such unrelated uses.

Our Commitment To Children’s Privacy

Protecting the privacy of the very young is especially important. For that reason, we never collect or maintain information at our website from those we actually know are under 13, and no part of our website is structured to attract anyone under 13.

How You Can Access Or Correct Your Information

You can access all your personally identifiable information that we collect online and maintain by logging in to SharedStatus and modifying your information in the Settings area.

To protect your privacy and security, we require that you log in to your account before you can make any changes.
